Currently, Forget-Me-Not Animal Rescue is a small operation of volunteers headed by Sara Geny with animals kept on her personal property until she can adopt them out. For many groups here in the Southeast, this is good enough. But not for Forget-Me-Not.
Sara has an incredible vision of an expansive, farm-like facility with advanced medical care, plenty of room for exercise, ample staff for care of each shelter animal that we rescue, and the ability and training to help any homeless pet, whether physically or behaviorally. A massive fundraising campaign is just at it's beginning, starting with a better web presence and lots of networking, and moving into marketing and grant-writing and fundraising events.
As a supporter of Forget-Me-Not, we want you to know exactly what our plans are, what we are doing with your money, and how the animals are going to benefit from your generosity. The specifics of our plans are still coming together. Currently, you can download a .pdf of our business plans using the link bellow. Before long, we hope to have even more details, like construction plans, and specific lists of costs. While some of your donations may go to the feeding and medical care of our animals, as much of it as possible will be saved for this future facility. There are not many animal welfare facilities in Middle Tennessee with our passionate vision, and there is not one single sanctuary in the southeast quarter of the US with the scope of our plans.
Why does the South need a 50-acre sanctuary for companion animals? Because many regions of the south have some of the highest rates of animal neglect, abuse, abandonment, and euthanasia in the whole country. Sara has said herself that she has found most of her success by adopting dogs and puppies to families in the north. There are far too many unwanted and uncared for pets in our region and no large-scale operations to combat it. Forget-Me-Not wants not only a large-scale sanctuary for pets waiting to be adopted, under medical care, or who cannot be adopted for various reasons, but also to start a high volume, affordable spay & neuter program, and to provide information on animal care to the public who may feel overwhelmed by pets they don't understand and who can't understand them, people who are often incredibly misinformed via "common knowledge."
Forget-Me-Not Animal Rescue's developing sanctuary is a desperately needed resource by all members of the community, both human and otherwise, and we are very much looking forward to working with you to make it happen. You can help make it happen by pressing the “donate” button, which allows you to donate via ChipIn fundraiser, on the top left of this page or buying from our Zazzle store.
